lemon natural diy cleaning spray

DIY Citrus Surface Spray

Yes! You can do it yourself. And the best part is you don’t waste anything! Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love lemons. Every morning I start the day with hot water infused with lemon and a nip of ginger brown sugar. Rather than throwing away the lemon peels each day, I thought of better way to reuse them and make something creative. You can turn them into your own surface spray.

All you need is :

Jar with a seal tight lid

Citrus peels (lemon, lime, mandarin, grapefruit)

vinegar

spray bottle

I had a used washed coffee jar which I started collecting the peels. When I got to about 1/2 to 3/4 full, I filled the gar with vinegar. Put the lid on tight and let the mixture sit for 2 weeks. After the two weeks, I popped the top and smelt the citrus infused vinegar. From here I added 1 part citrus concentrate to 4 parts water, popped my sprayer lid on and got cleaning!

I first started with just lemon but then got creative and added lime and mandarin- yum. And then more creative with blood orange and grapefruit OMG!!!

The list of cleaning properties of lemon goes on and on for antibacterial, anti fungal and anti microbial. But the one great component that all the citrus peels contain is d-limonene, which a natural compound great for breaking down grease and grime. And is also responsible for that amazing citrus scent!

Create your own surface spray and great creative. I think you with amaze yourself!
